Reflecting on John Collins
There are people I will remember all my life.
John Collins will be high on that list.
His spirit, his charm, his gentleness, his wicked sense of humour, his
industry, his entrepreneurial flair, his salesmanship, his wisdom, his
Irish lilt, his love of fishing, golf and Manchester United, but mostly,
His love of Margaret,
His love of Jean, Kathy, Laura Lynn and Jack and
His love of and interest in extended family and friends.
The Brennan’s were beneficiaries of all that from the time we first
met in 1976.
We thank you John.
We can shed tears because he has gone,
Or we can smile because he has lived,
We can close our eyes and hope that he will come back,
Or we can open our eyes and see all that he has left,
Our hearts can be empty because we cannot see him,
Or we can be full of the love that we shared.
We can turn our back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or we can be happy for tomorrow, because of yesterday
We can remember John and only that he is gone,
Or we can cherish his memory and let it live on.
We can cry and close our minds,
Be empty and turn our backs,
Or we can do what John would want;
Smile, open our eyes, love and go on.
